It exterminated minnow Scotland by eight wickets within just seven overs in its Group 2’s Super 12 tie of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Stadium Friday. With this win, India’s chances of qualifying for the semis have been hoisted considerably, along with an improved net run rate.

After the match, Kohli visited the Scottish dressing room, pacer Jasprit Bumrah, senior opener Rohit Sharma, and wicketkeeper-opener Ishan Kishan. Cricket Scotland (CS) shared some pictures of the same on its social media handles and captioned it, “Priceless”, besides also noting, “Huge respect to @imVkohli and co. for taking the time”.

There was a funny caption for a photo where Kohli was interacting with some of the Scottish players. CS wrote, “So guys, how do you go about playing on a green one in Aberdeen in April?” A video of the same was also shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on its social media handles, along with Kohli's birthday celebrations following the win.

Birthday boy Virat Koli finally won the first toss of the tournament, as he opted to bowl. The Indian bowlers attacked the Scottish batters with the perfect line and length, as wickets kept tumbling regularly, with Scotland getting shot out for 85 by the 18th over. In reply, opener KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma went after the bowlers right from the start and nearly sealed the game within the Powerplay itself. It took seven overs to get the result, while India had 81 balls to spare.
Brief scores: Scotland 85 in 17.4 overs (Munsey- 24; Shami- 3/15, Jadeja- 3/15) lost to India 89/2 in 6.3 overs (Rahul- 50, Rohit- 30; Watt- 1/20) by eight wickets.
