Bengaluru: Former India opening batsman Gautam Gambhir on Thursday (April 30) hailed Rohit Sharma as the “best white ball cricketer” in the world.

While wishing Rohit a happy birthday, Gambhir called him the “best” in the limited-overs formats. Gambhir, who is now a BJP MP, took to Twitter to wish the Mumbai batsman, who turned 33 today (April 30).

“Happy Birthday to the best white ball cricketer in the world @ImRo45! Have a great year ahead!! (sic),” Gambhir tweeted.

Rohit is one of the best limited-overs batsmen in the world. He is the only player to have scored three double centuries in ODIs. Last year, he hit a record five tons in a single World Cup.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rohit is the only captain to have won four titles. Overall, he has five IPL trophies as he was with Deccan Chargers (DC) when they won the silverware in South Africa in 2009.

Rohit has hit 34 centuries in limited-overs cricket with 29 in ODIs, four in T20Is and one in IPL T20. He has played 32 Tests, 224 ODIs and 108 T20Is for India. Rohit made his international debut (ODI) in 2007, against Ireland.
