The leader took to Twitter to confirm that he tested positive with any symptoms and is receiving treatment at the hospital  

COVID-19 case tally in the country stands at 35,42,734 including 7,65,302 active cases, 27,13,934 cured/discharged/migrated and 63,498 deaths.

2,982 people were infected with COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. On Thursday (August 27), the number of cases was 2,997. According to the State Health Bulletin, 56 people died of coronavirus in a single day in the state and 11 of them were from Kolkata. So far, the number of deaths has exceeded 3,000 in West Bengal. However, the rate of recovery is increasing. The recovery rate increased to 80.86%.

If other countries that can afford it pursue a similar approach, the WHO's strategy for fighting the coronavirus pandemic globally and equitably risks coming undone, experts warn.
