Reliance Foundation to vaccinate 20 lakh employees, including retired staff for free
Reliance Foundation launched five missions to fight Covid-19, said Nita Ambani at RIL AGM.
Reliance Foundation launched five missions — 'mission oxygen', 'mission Covid infra', 'mission anna seva', 'mission employee care', 'mission vaccine suraksha' — to fight the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani's wife Nita Ambani said at the 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of RIL.
Addressing the shareholders at Reliance Industries' 44th AGM, Nita Ambani highlighted the company's philanthropic efforts, including the production of high-quality medical-grade industrial oxygen and procuring oxygen tankers from other countries amid oxygen shortages owing to high Covid-19 cases.
The AGM took place virtually in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. During the meeting Nita Ambani said, "Covid-19 pandemic is a humanitarian crisis. It has tested the very spirit of humanity. But even in the darkest hour, our spirit has shone bright. We as a people have come together and fought this battle."
She further said, "RIL's Mission Vaccine Suraksha is one of India's largest corporate vaccination drives, to vaccinate 20 lakh of our family, including retired employees, partner company employees, and their families free of cost."
The foundation has also made the entire vaccination process easy and accessible on its physical and digital platform, JioHealthHub, free-of-cost to all users. The platform has the ability to scale up to one lakh vaccinations a day, and this number will be further increased, Nita Ambani, Chairperson and Founder of Reliance Foundation, said.
“Mass vaccination is India’s top most and urgent priority now. It is the most reliable way out of this crisis. And to achieve this in the shortest possible time, the Government of India has recently allowed private enterprises and hospitals to join the effort,” she added.
“We hope to partner with other corporate and local authorities towards fulfilling the mission of vaccinating all Indians by the end of this year. We are currently vaccinating all 20 lakh of our extended family, including retired employees, partner company employees, and their families – free of cost”.
She announced that Reliance would also give Rs 10 lakh to families of off-roll employees who succumbed to Covid-19. "I assure you that in every challenge that India faces, Reliance Foundation has and will continue to stand with every Indian. Together, we shall overcome as we always have," added Nita Ambani.
