Students of IIT Guwahati and alumni of NIT Silchar and Dibrugarh Universities in Assam have developed a new app called AgSpeak that helps farmers manage their crops.
The students launched the application through the agri-tech startup AgSpert.
Here are some features of the mobile application that is now available on Google play store:
* The app comes with smart weather forecast and advisory for what is most required under specific weather situations.
* The app is equipped with farm harvest recording that enables the farmer to keep track of the productivity and sharing it with nearby buyers. This enables them to secure good prices on their produce.
* The app also offers automatic disease and pest threat prediction.
* The mobile app is available in 3 languages -- Hindi, English and Assamese.Â
* Â With AgSpeak STAR option, farmers can get on-the-spot soil tests and expert responses to address their problems.Â
* The soil health cards and expert reports can be easily viewed inside the app and shared with other farmers
* The mobile application draws data from user location and user-entered farm information to curate site and crop-specific alerts to farmers based on real-time environmental conditions of their farm.
