Flipkart to introduce 'Flipkart Xtra' app, plans to create over 4,000 jobs

Flipkart, which Walmart owns, announced on Wednesday that it would launch a different marketplace model called 'Flipkart Xtra' to provide people, service agencies, and technicians with flexible income possibilities. Flipkart will deliver a quick and smooth onboarding experience to interested individuals via the 'Flipkart Xtra' app on Google Play Store. Following background checks, applicants will be able to join for various positions, including delivery executives to begin with and service partners or technicians in the following months, according to a statement.
According to the company, the new platform would enable Flipkart's supply chain to ensure smoother and speedier delivery of goods and service to consumers across India while also offering part-time possibilities for individuals. According to the announcement, the launch, which comes ahead of the holiday season and the company's Big Billion Days, will assist thousands of individuals, technicians, and service agencies around the country by offering access to chances for additional work and earnings as delivery partners. Flipkart also stated that it plans to hire 4,000 part-time employees through Flipkart Xtra during the holiday season, which will last through December 2021.

Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain at Flipkart, stated that the company is excited to introduce Flipkart Xtra, a service marketplace that will provide flexible income possibilities to people, local businesses and even service experts. He said that this is a new disruption in the gig economy area that will assist people in discovering other sources of income while also helping the country's economic revival.
The majority of recruiting is done in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune, and Lucknow, including for diversity. Furthermore, the statement stated that about 2,700 employees are being employed to increase the contact centre's ability to handle and assist with consumer issues throughout the holiday season.
