It seems Ram Gopal Varma truly is controversy's poster child. After drawing flak over his comments on social media and other platforms, women activists from Visakhapatnam district have planned a 48-hour hunger strike from February 21, demanding immediate arrest of the movie director.
The activists, under the banner of the Mahila Sanghala Ikya Vedika, said that they would launch a 48-hour hunger strike from February 21 if he is not arrested for his short film with pornstar Mia Malkova, God, Sex and Truth.
M Lakshmi of Progressive Organisation of Women said the director had insulted women by saying that pornography is a good profession as it gives pleasure. They say his words hurt womanhood and that he does not know how to respect and speak to women.
RGV also had to visit the Central Crime station, for, in a debate on Tv9 Telugu, AIDWA activist Mani accused him of promoting obscenity. In response, Varma mocked and said he’d make a film with her instead of Mia Malkova. Now, this is him pushing the limits.
The women claimed inaction by police and also being lenient towards him.
It is hard to believe that this is the same man who made films like Satya and Attack on 26/11. Instigating people, especially women, has become his favourite pastime. Remember how he was served a legal notice by Boney Kapoor and Sridevi for using the latter's name in his film about a young boy's fascination with an older woman?
It doesn't look like he has learnt a lesson. Why can't he keep his tongue in check and let his work do the talking instead?
