Veteran actress turned politician Jaya Prada to join YSRCP

Veteran actress and former TDP Women Wing President Jaya Prada plans to make her comeback in Andhra Pradesh politics after more than a decade. After eliminating her choices, sources report that she finally settled on YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) and is making her steps through that path.

Jaya Prada made her debut in politics at the behest of former Chief Minister and TDP (Telugu Desam Party) founder NT Rama Rao in 1994. When Chandrababu Naidu backstabbed NTR by convincing majority of TDP MLAs to support him, Jaya Prada was also one among them.

After Chandrababu became CM, Jaya Prada became a Rajya Sabha member and also the Telugu Mahila President. Following differences with Chandrababu she left AP politics and landed in UP under the wings of Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh.

Now that the political power of Amar Singh declined, Jaya Prada turned to her native state and looking for political openings to stage a comeback. Recently news of her joining Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party did the rounds but she opted out since Jana Sena has not fully formed.

Jaya Prada now seeks to join YSRCP and wishes to contest either for Rajamundry MP seat or for Rajya Sabha seat. YSRCP already has another glamour actress RK Roja in its kit and is not averse to take in Jaya Prada for added glamour.
