TDP and YSRCP workers clashed in Nandyal over allegations that the members of the ruling part in the state were distributing cash to lure voters.

The Nandyal by-election saw an 80 percent turnout. Elderly and women in large numbers turned up for voting on August 23.

YSRCP leaders claimed that TDP was trying to sabotage the voting process. The two political outfits clashed after rumours claimed that TDP members were distributing cash near Gandhinagar (ward 33).

After two party workers clashed, the voters fearing a major outbreak ran away from the booth.

Of the nearly 2.18 lakh registered voters in Nandyal, 1,73,335 had cast their votes according to Deccan Chronicle report. Among these were 84,831 men and 88,503 women.

Out of the three mandals in the constituency, Gospadu mandal registered the highest polling percentage of 90.81%, followed by Nandyal Rural with 87.61 % and Nandyal Urban with 74.06%.
