Silpa Chakrapani alleges Abhiruchi Madhu of murder attempt

Just a day after Nandyal by-election, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activist Abhiruchi Madhu attacked Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YCP) candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy’s brother Silpa Chakrapani Reddy near Suraj Grand Hotel in Nandyal on Thursday.

According to Silpa Chakrapani, he along with his supporters went to attend the funeral of YCP minority leader Mohammad Basha. While returning, they found the way blocked by Madhu’s vehicles. When YCP team asked them to move their vehicles, there began a war of wars which later erupted into a full-blown scuffle.

Madhu fired five rounds into the air and was seen wielding a dagger hurling abuses at Silpa Chakrapani. The attack caused panic and fear among the residents in the area while the police remained mute spectators.

Silpa Chakrapani accused Madhu of murder attempt since he was carrying lethal weapons like sickles in his vehicle. He said this was a deliberate attempt to take his life by Madhu. Silpa Chakrapani had defected TDP to join YCP just before the by-election.

On several occasions in the past political parties questioned the state government's decision to provide a gunman to Madhu since he was a former rowdy sheeter and had several criminal cases registered against him.

Meanwhile, Madhu lodged a case of murder attempt against Silpa Chakrapani and other YCP workers. YCP leaders Ambati Rambabu and Srikanth Reddy condemned the attack on Silpa Chakrapani.
