Senior YSRCP Kurnool MP Butta Renuka to join TDP today

In a major setback for YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party), one of its richest MPs Butta Renuka from Kurnool is all set to join ruling TDP (Telugu Desam Party) on Tuesday in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada.

YSRCP Central Committee member and former MLA Kothakota Prakash Reddy will also be joining TDP along with her.

Renuka’s husband Butta Neelakantham, who is the Chairman and Managing Director of Butta Group had joined ruling TDP after the election but Renuka continued in YSRCP.

But speculation was rife after Renuka met IT Minister Nara Lokesh at the state guest house in Kurnool in July. She expressed her displeasure over YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy when the opposition party lost the Nandyal by-election polls.

According to sources, one of the reasons for Renuka joining TDP was that she was asked to contest for Assembly from Yemmiganur constituency as YSRCP wished to invite former Central minister Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy as YSRCP Kurnool MP candidate. But Renuka was adamant and refused to contest for Assembly and so seems to have opted to quit YSRCP.
