Senior doctor clerk Tirupati ruia hospital attempt suicide

Tirupati Ruia Hospital's senior resident doctor Venkata Ramana attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills in a hotel room, after the authorities failed to take action against hospital clerk Krishna Kumari, who assaulted him on September 18. His condition remains critical.

On hearing the news of Venkata Ramana's suicide attempt, Krishna Kumari also attempted suicide by taking sleeping pills at her home and was immediately rushed to the hospital. She is said to be out of danger.

The junior doctors have been on strike at the hospital for a few days, demanding the authorities to take action against the clerk for assaulting the resident doctor. But the hospital administration and even the district collector did not respond to the agitation.

Venkata Ramana was deeply hurt by the negligent attitude of the authorities and hence resorted to taking the extreme step. The junior doctors identified the suicide attempt of Venkata Ramana and immediately rushed him to hospital.

On hearing the suicide attempt of Venkata Ramana, sub-collector Nishant Kumar visited Ruia Hospital on Friday and enquired about his condition to hospital superintendent Siddha Nayak.

Meanwhile, district collector Pradhyumna responded to the agitation and issued orders for the suspension of the respective clerk. He ordered the Ruia’s superintendent to submit a complete report on the issue.
