Kamal Haasan calls people being oversensitive in the Padmavati row

Veteran actor Kamal Haasan once again comes in support of Padmavati film and lands himself in controversy. He said Indians have become over sensitive and are ready to believe in negativity first without verifying facts.

Talking to the media on Sunday at the Times Delhi LitFest in New Delhi, he said that he hasn’t watched the film yet but earlier people out rightly demanded for ban of his Vishwaroopan.

“I have not watched Padmavati. People also didn’t watch my film Vishwaroopam. But they want to ban it. This is very wrong. If after the release, people have a problem with it that I can understand. We have become oversensitive to such issues. I am not responding as a director but as an Indian,” he said.

Padmavati, directed by Sanjay Leela Bansali has been embroiled in a row with Rajput Karni Sena and other political leaders accusing the team of distorting historical facts and depicting Queen Padmavati in the wrong light.

It was rumoured that there is a romantic dream sequence between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, which the director claim it to be false.

Padmavati is enacted by Deepika Padukone while Khilji is portrayed by Ranveer Singh, the proposed beau of Deepika.

Kamal said that people have become cynical and are ready to believe any negativity without validating its truth.
