Farmers refuse CRDA allotted Amaravathi plots stating vaastu defects

Andhra Pradesh in its prestigious new capital city project pooled land from farmers in Amaravathi. In return, the farmers were allotted plots to compensate for their land. CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) allotted plots to the farmers as per the agreement. But farmers refused the plots stating vaastu defects and demanded to be given plots based on vaastu.

AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in his third term as CM gave prominence to auspicious time, dates and vaastu in every official and personal work. This seems to influence everyone in the state and now this has spread to the farmers who gave their land for the capital city.

The Government of AP had pooled agricultural land of about 33,567 acres from 22,525 farmers of 29 villages. According to the agreement, they have been  allotted 56,971 developed plots with underground drainage, drinking water facility, underground cable system and electricity.

But CRDA mismanaged while allotting plots with its own layout and without prior intimation to the farmers. Farmers were asked to register their plots without even showing them the layout of the allotted plots. The farmers realised that the plots allotted to them face southwards and CRDA also took into consideration cemeteries in its layout and allotted them as plots.

Farmers complained that the government was trying to cheat them and demanded CRDA to allot plots based on vaastu when AP CM Chandrababu himself gives so much of importance to vaastu.
