Centre may stop funds for the construction of new capital city

Central BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Daggubati Purandeswari hinted that the Centre would not release funds for the construction of Andhra Pradesh’s new capital city Amaravathi as the state TDP (Telugu Desam Party) government is yet to account for the expenses of the released funds.

AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu blamed the Centre for not issuing funds for the capital city and that’s the reason for the delay in the building of the capital.

But the centre is adamant and gave an ultimatum to the state to submit the accounts for the released funds, else there would be no more funds from the centre.

This status quo would continue till the next elections and then that is expected to be another reason for not completing the project.

Purandeswari talking about the Polavaram project expressed her dissatisfaction and her anger as to why so many contractors have been changed for the project and also that the government had not given an account of the expenses.

She expressed her opinion that further funds can only be released when the government submits its accounts for the released funds.
