Campaign closed in Nandyal reopened at Kakinada

After the high voltage election campaign at Nandyal, the two political parties of TDP (Telugu Desam Party) and YCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) turned their attention for another nerve-wracking and dramatic campaign in Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections to be held on August 29th.

When all eyes were on Nandyal, some prominent leaders of TDP and YCP were preparing the ground work in Kakinada. YCP roped in senior leaders like Botsa Satyanarayana, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Mopidevi Venkata Ramana and K Parthasarathy along with 200 YCP leaders of Visakhapatnam district are camping out at Kakinada to ensure a victory.

Kakinada Corporation elections for 48 divisions are commencing after a seven-year gap and both parties are vying for supremacy. This election is like gauging the pulse of the public prior to 2019 elections from a big district like East Godavari.

The main focus of the two parties is on Kapu community which is the largest community and so would be the deciding factor in Kakinada election. Kapu community has a grudge with CM Chandrababu for failing to fulfil his promise of giving Backward Community status to Kapus.

Their year and half agitation under the leadership of Mudragada Padmanabham has been suppressed time and again by the Chandrababu government. This instigated Mudragada to call for Kapus to vote against Chandrababu both in Nandyal and Kakinada.

There arose an atmosphere of suspense as to who would win the elections. YS Jagan would campaign in Kakinada on August 26th and 27th while Chandrababu would also campaign in the city.
