The Indian film industry is still reeling under the shock of veteran actress Sridevi's sudden demise. Sridevi died after suffering a cardiac arrest in Dubai, at only 54 years of age.
The Telugu film industry, where Sridevi worked in more than 80 films, has condoled her death.
But their zeal for the actress does not end here.
TDP's Rajahmundry MP Maganti Murali Mohan, who had acted with Sridevi in Telugu movie "Bangarakka", said she should be conferred with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award and he will take up the matter in the upcoming Parliament session.
"We expected more films from Sridevi. But, her sudden demise has rendered shock to her fans and cinema industry. It would be apt if the government confers the Dada Saheb Phalke award onSridevi in recognition of her contribution to the cinema industry. I will take up this matter in the upcoming session of Parliament beginning from March 5," Mohan said to PTI.
"We acted together in 'Bangarakka' film. It was at that time itself I felt that she will become a big star in the cinema industry," Mohan added.
Apart from the MP and his enthusiastic request, Jana Sena Party President and Telugu film actor Pawan Kalyan, superstar Mahesh Babu, actor Junior NTR were among those who also condoled Sridevi's death.
