AP Government calls for emergency in view of students deaths in Corporate Colleges

Andhra Pradesh government called for an emergency meeting on October 16 in lieu of the rising students’ deaths in Narayana and Chaitanya Colleges in the Telugu states. The meeting will be chaired by Minister of Human Resources Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the recent times saw the rise in students committing suicides in corporate colleges unable to bear the pressure of competitive education.

Today morning also saw the suicide of Inter First year student Bhargav Reddy who hanged himself in his hostel room in Sri Chaitanya College, Vijayawada. Bhargav Reddy hails from Pemmadapalle of Rayachoti mandal in Kadapa district. His friends found him lying and immediately rushed him to a local hospital but the doctors have declared him brought dead.

Bhargav’s family and relatives are informed about the news of Bhargav’s death and are yet to reach Vijayawada. Reasons behind his suicide are yet to be known. Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao offered his condolences to the family and ordered Intermediate Commissioner to investigate the incident. He warned of dire consequences on the College administration.

All the corporate colleges are ordered to attend the emergency meeting on the 16th and the minister warned of action and cancellation of permission to all those colleges which doesn’t attend this meeting. The two-member Chankrapani Committee will also be attending the meeting.
