Andhra Pradesh: Unable to afford treatment, woman kills 5-month-old daughter

FollowIt is as horrifying as it sounds. A desparate mother reportedly killed her ailing 5-month-old daughter to end her suffering as well as their's. She drowned her in a water container t Amrithanagar Colony in Proddatur here on Saturday. According to police, Gaibu Saheb and Fathima were depressed that they could do nothing to save their daughter since they did not have any means to do so. Their daughter Rokia was suffering from cerebral edema.
When the baby's suffering went beyond control, the mother drowned her in water. Scared that she would get arrested, she approached the police and lodged a fake case of kidnapping against two identified women. However, the police understood that she was trying to cover up her crime during interrogation.
Fathima finally broke down and said that she took the baby to a few local doctors who said that she could not be treated. That is when she decided to kill the child. Fathima said that she could not afford to get her daughter treated by experts. Therefore, she decided to put an end to the suffering of the baby by killing her.
