The video recorded by a visitor to the elephant's rejuvenation camp shows the men hitting the animal with sticks on its legs, and it is heard trumpeting in pain. The elephant, said to be of the Srivilliputhur temple, was tied to a tree and hit.
According to primary inquiries, the incident happened because the elephant was allegedly not following the mahout’s commands. The officials said that being enraged by its response, Kumar and Sivaprasad chained the elephant to a tree and attacked it.
