COVID-19: Panic buying begins at vegetable shops, grocery stores and petrol bunks in Bengaluru

Government of Karnataka's battle against the deadly coronavirus by locking down 9 districts including Bengaluru city has resulted in panic buying by public.

Petrol bunks, few vegetable shops and grocery stores across Bengaluru witnessed a mad rush.

Taking advantage of this, traders at the New Thippasandra Market are selling vegetables at more than double the price. Tomatoes which are priced Rs 10 per kilo are sold at Rs 50. Similarly, okra which is sold at Rs 80 per kilo, was priced at Rs 30 two days ago. Fruits like sapota that was sold at Rs 50 per kilo is being sold at Rs 100.

Bakery items like bread that is priced at Rs 40 were sold out.
