Seven women Members of Parliament were among the 43 who took oath on Wednesday to become a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new council of ministers. The revamped Cabinet has given special emphasis on diversity, with the representation of all sections of the society, including gender, academic qualification, etc.
    
Anupriya Sing Patel: (Age: 40)
Portfolio: MoS in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry

Anupriya is MP from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh. She represents BJP ally, Apna Dal. In her first term, she served as the Minister of State for Health. She has also served as an MLA in Uttar Pradesh. Before coming into politics she was a professor at Amity University and has an MBA from Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. 

Shobha Karandlaje (Age: 54)
Portfolio: MoS in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare

Shobha is MP from Udupi Chikmagalur in Karnataka, serving her second term. She has also been a one time MLA and MLC in Karnataka. She has served as the cabinet minister in the Karnataka government and held portfolios like food and civil supplies, power, rural development and the Panchayati raj system. She has an MA in Sociology from Mangalore University and has been in the public eye since she was in college, roughly 3 decades. She is known for her views on Hindutva. She replaces D Sadananda Gowda as a representative from Karnataka.

Darshana Jardosh: (Age: 60)
Portfolio: MoS in the Ministry of Textiles and of Railways

Darshana is a three-term MP from Surat, Gujarat. She was a corporator with Surat municipal corporation as well as a member of the Gujarat Social Welfare Board. She is also the director of an art and culture organisation called Sanskruti. She won in Surat despite the BJP facing a threat from the Patel-Patidar movement, which influenced rural Gujarat. She has a BCom degree from K P Commerce College, Surat. 

Meenakshi Lekhi: (Age: 54)
Portfolio: MoS in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Culture

Meenakshi is serving her second term as a Lok Sabha MP from Delhi. She is a Supreme Court lawyer. She has also been a Member of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation and studied LLB at the University of Delhi. 

Annpurna Devi: (Age: 51)
Portfolio: MoS in the Ministry of Education

Annpurna is a 4 time MLA and is currently a Lok Sabha MP from Kodarma in Jharkhand. She has held portfolios such as irrigation and Women and Child Welfare as a minister in Jharkhand's government. She served as Minister of State for Mines and Geology in the Bihar government, at the young age of 30. She has an MA in History from Ranchi University. 

Pratima Bhoumik: (Age: 52)
Portfolio: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment as a Minister of State

Pratima is Lok Sabha MP for Tripura West in Tripura and is serving her first term as MP. She holds a Graduate degree in Bio-Science from Women’s College, Tripura University. 

Bharati Pawar: (Age: 42)
Portfolio: MoS in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Bharati is a Lok Sabha MP from Dindori in Maharashtra and is serving her first term. She has served as a member of Nashik Zila Parishad and worked for eradicating malnutrition and providing clean drinking water. She holds an MBBS degree in Surgery from NDMVPS Medical College, Nashik. 

The 3 women ministers who remain in the cabinet:

* Nirmala Sitharaman is still Union Finance Minister and additionally in charge of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. 

* Smriti Irani has been divested of the Textile ministry and remains the Women and Child Development. minister. 

* Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti remains the MoS in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and the Ministry of Rural Development. 

* Renuka Singh Saruta remains the MoS in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
