Veteran Congress leader Oscar Fernandes passes away in Mangaluru
Fernandes, 80, was hospitalised after suffering a fall while doing Yoga at his home in July this year. He was admitted in ICU following a surgery to remove a clot in his brain.
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandez passed away in Mangaluru on Monday.
Fernandes, 80, was hospitalised after suffering a fall while doing Yoga at his home in July this year. He was admitted in ICU following a surgery to remove a clot in his brain.
Many senior Congress leaders including former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and state Congress chief DK Shivakumar, and Lok Sabha opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge had made a beeline to visit the Congress veteran.
He is survived by wife Blossom Fernandes and two children.
He served as Union Road Transport Minister in the UPA government and was F considered close to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He also served as Parliamentary Secretary, to Rajiv Gandhi.Â
