Plot to execute serial blasts in Lucknow before August 15 foiled by UP ATS

The ADG (law and order) said that the module had planned explosions in and around prominent places in Lucknow ahead of Independence Day.

Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad has reportedly thwarted a major terror attack after it busted a terror module in Kakori locality of state capital Lucknow and arrested two terrorists.

UP ADG Law & Order Prashant Kumar said, "The ATS uncovered a major conspiracy today. The terror module had links to Al-Qaeda-backed Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Two terrorists have been arrested and explosive material has been recovered from them."

The ADG (law and order) further said that the module had planned explosions in and around prominent places in Lucknow ahead of Independence Day.

The two terrorists, Minhaj Ahmed (32) and Naseeruddin (50), had other accomplices in Lucknow and Kanpur.

From the house raided in Kakori, improvised explosive devices were recovered and defused. A cache of ammunition was recovered from the house

Sources also said that a pressure cooker bomb was recovered from the three houses that were raided by the ATS. 

The operation, involving around 40 ATS personnel, began around 11 am following a tip-off. The intel input on the module was received eight days ago.
