Tripura becomes India's first state to vaccinate 100% of its 45 plus population

 The Northeastern state Tripura has become the country's first state to vaccinate its 45 and above population with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination.

The Covid vaccination special drive on International Yoga day on June 21 and the following day has resulted in the Northeastern state Tripura achieving a distinction of 100% vaccination of 45 plus age group with 1st dose. The Yoga day vaccine drive was started for 18 plus, the vaccination for the older group population was not limited and hence the state achieved this feat.

CM Biplap Kumar Deb had earlier said that Tripura wants to emerge as the country's first state to complete vaccination of its population.

The state with 23.94% population in the age group of 45 plus from a total population of 42 lakhs, began vaccinating the public in the age group of 45 plus from April 1st with the first dose. It is reported that 18.33 lakh people above 45 are all vaccinated with the first dose between April 1st to June 22, out of which 5.62 lakh have also received their second dose.

The CM is active on social media and keeps a tab on fully vaccinated gram panchayats as well to ensure the Covid spread is contained. He took to Twitter and wrote, "Congratulations Tripura."

Five more GPs -- South Hurua, Laxminagar and Gobindpur in Kalacherra Block, West Tilthai in Juba Rajnagar Block and Agnipasa in Panisagar block of North #Tripura is fully vaccinated."

12% of 18 plus vaccinated in special drive

A special drive on June 21 that also marked vaccination for 18-44 age group, 1,54,209 Covid vaccination doses were reported. The next day 1,85,559 doses were reported. In all 3,39,768 vaccine doses which account to 12% of the state's population were administered for 18 plus population.

Since March 2020, Tripura has reported 63,137 and 655 deaths. At present, there are 3,785 active cases.
