National Investigation Agency is carrying out multiple raids in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with its terror funding investigation.

NIA sources said that properties linked to members of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir were being raided.

Raids are underway in at least 45 locations in 14 districts of J&K, sources added.

The Narendra Modi government banned the Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir in 2019 over its pro-separatist and pro-Pakistan leanings.

The outfit was also alleged to be the political arm of the banned terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen. The Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir, however, denied the allegations.

The J&K Police and Central Reserve Police Force personnel are assisting the NIA officials in carrying out the raids.

According to sources, activities of the outfit have witnessed a spike despite the Centre's ban on it.

The NIA has, in recent weeks, conducted several raids in Kashmir.

Last week, the NIA had raided Anantnag and Srinagar over an alleged conspiracy to disseminate Islamic State propaganda through its online magazine 'The Voice of Hind'.

In a statement, the central agency had said an organised campaign had been launched over cyberspace which is supplemented by on0ground terror-financing activities.

It further said that an India-centric online monthly propaganda magazine, 'the Voice of Hind' is being published to radicalise impressionable youth by projecting a skewed narrative of imagined injustices in India.
