Sunanda Pushkar death case: Shashi Tharoor discharged of all charges

FollowA Delhi court on Wednesday discharged Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in connection with the death case of his late wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Currently on bail in the case, the Congress leader was chargesheeted by Delhi Police under Sections 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Sunanda was found dead in the suite of a luxury hotel in the city on the night of January 17, 2014.
Tharoor was present during Special Judge Geetanjali Goel pronouncing the order in a virtual hearing. "It had been seven and half years and it was torture, and it was a great relief," Tharoor said, thanking the court.
He also released a statement after the verdict thanking the Special Judge for bringing conclusion to the long nightmare he had enveloped after the passing of his late wife Sunanda.
Tharoor, husband of Sunanda Pushkar is the main accused in the matter according to the Delhi Police.
