Stalin releases DMK manifesto for TN polls; promises petrol prices reduction, 12-month maternity leave

The manifesto also promised to take steps to seek an early report from the commission step up to probe the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin on Saturday releases his party’s manifesto at the DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam in the capital city.

MK Stalin read out the DMK manifesto at a press conference and promised a reduction in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 5 and Rs 4 per litre, respectively, and a subsidy of Rs 100 on LPG gas cylinder.

DMK has also promised to cut Aavin milk price by Rs 3 among other things. The DMK election manifesto carries 500 poll promises.

For women, DMK said it would extend maternity leave to 12 months. And education loans would be waived for students below the age of 30.

•    Increase 10% reservation in govt jobs for women and free travel in public transport.
•    Separate courts to deal with corruption cases, grievances redressal camps
•    Auto-rickshaw drivers will be given Rs 10,000 subsidy for buying rickshaws,
•    Rs 10,000 subsidy to small-scale farmers for buying motor pumps
•    Rs 24,000 financial aid for pregnant women.
•    Prices of Aavin milk will be reduced by Rs 3 per litre
•    Educational loans of students below 30 years of age will be waived
•    Financial aid of Rs 1,500 to people above 60 years.
•    Free sanitary napkins for school and college girls.
•    Village priest salary and pension will be increased.
•    Renovation of temples will be done at a cost of Rs 1,000 crores
•    Renovation of Mosques and Churches at cost of Rs 200 crores

Earlier, on Friday DMK had released their party's candidates list during a press conference, ahead of upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled to be held in a single phase.

The list revealed that DMK chief, MK Stalin will contest from Kolathur, while his son, Udhayanidhi will fight from Chepauk-Triplicane.

The assembly elections for 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu will be conducted in one phase on April 6. The counting of votes is slated for May 2.
