Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed teachers and students during the inaugural conclave of ‘Shikshak Parv’ via video-conferencing with the presence of Union Ministers of State for Education and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

PM Modi launched multiple key initiatives in the education sector on the occasion. Shikshak Parv, 2021 is being celebrated by the Ministry of Education (MoE) from September 5-17 in recognition of the valuable contributions of teachers and to take National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 a step forward.

Addressing the conclave, PM Modi said the new initiatives would shape the future of the sector. “One of the initiatives, School Quality Assessment & Assurance will not only make education competitive but will also make students future-ready,” he said.

He said education should not only be inclusive but also be equitable. “Education should not only be inclusive but also be equitable. Talking books and audiobooks are part of education system now. A dictionary for Indian Sign language has been formed. For first time in the country, Indian Sign language is being included as a subject in curriculum,” the PM said.

PM Modi also congratulated Indian teachers who have received the National Award. He said, "The contribution you all have made for the future of the students in the country in difficult times is incomparable, commendable."

He further said, "From the formulation of NEP to its implementation, there has been contribution of academicians, experts, teachers, at every level. You all deserve praise for this. Now we have to take this participation to a new level, we also have to involve the society in it".

The theme of "Shikshak Parv-2021" is "Quality and Sustainable Schools: Learnings from Schools in India", it noted.

Its celebration will encourage innovative practices to ensure not only continuity of education at all levels but to improve quality, inclusive practices and sustainability in schools across the country as well, the PMO said.
