Sena-BJP relationship is like Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao's: Sanjay Raut
Sena MP Sanjay Raut said, "Shiv Sena and BJP are not like India and Pakistan. Look at Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao; it is like them. Our political ways are different, but the friendship will remain intact."
Day after BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that his party and Shiv Sena are "not enemies", the latter has sent out a similar message.
On Monday, Shiv Sena Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut said that his party's relationship with former ally BJP is more like Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and his filmmaker wife Kiran Rao, who recently announced their divorce.
Raut said, "Shiv Sena and BJP are not like India and Pakistan. Look at Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao; it is like them. Our political ways are different, but the friendship will remain intact."
The Bollywood actor recently announced his divorce but said he and Kiran would like to begin a new chapter as co-parents and family for each other.
Raut's remarks come a day after Fadnavis triggered speculation with his comments that the two parties are not enemies even though there are differences of opinions between them on specific issues.
The BJP, however, played down the remarks with senior leaders stating that Fadnavis' statement did not indicate that both parties will come together and form a government.
To recall, the former allies fell out after the Maharashtra assembly elections over the chief minister's post. Sena had staked claim to the post, which BJP refused to give up. Uddhav Thackeray's party then joined hands with Sharad Pawar's NCP and Congress to form the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government.
However, the foes have often come forward to show signs of old friendship.
Sanjay Raut has on an earlier occasion said that even though the two parties may have political and ideological differences, but if they come face-to-face at public functions, they will warmly greet each other.
