Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed health care workers and professionals in Kerala for setting an example in reducing vaccine wastage.

On Tuesday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had announced on the micro-blogging site Twitter that out of the 73,38,806 doses of vaccine that the state received from the Centre, vaccination centres had provided 74,26,164 doses.

Lauding the efforts of the state's health workers, especially nurses, Pinarayi Vijayan said that this absolute vaccine efficiency was accomplished by making use of the extra dose available as wastage factor in each vial.

Appreciating Kerala's efforts towards zero wastage, Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter on Wednesday.

He wrote, "Good to see our healthcare workers and nurses set an example in reducing vaccine wastage. Reducing vaccine wastage is important in strengthening the fight against COVID-19."

Kerala, which had been running low on vaccines, is expected to receive four lakh doses of Covishield and about 75,000 doses of Covaxin today.

NOTE: Asianet News humbly requests everyone to wear masks, sanitize, maintain social distancing and get vaccinated as soon as eligible. Together we can and will break the chain #ANCares #IndiaFightsCorona
