PM mourns demise of Times Group chairperson Indu Jain

Indu Jain, the chairperson of Bennett Coleman & Co Limited (BCCL), passed away on Thursday. She was 84.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish at the demise of Times Group Chairperson Indu Jain on Thursday and said she would be remembered for her community service initiatives, passion towards India's progress and deep-rooted interest in culture.

Indu Jain, the Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd chairperson, passed away on Thursday. She was 84.

In a tweet, Times Now, the flagship news channel of the group, remembered Indu Jain as a "lifelong spiritual seeker, pioneering philanthropist, distinguished patron of the arts, and passionate proponent of women's rights."

 

 

An ardent follower of Sadhguru and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Indu Jain addressed the Millennium World Peace Summit at United Nations in 2000. 

In 2016, Indu Jain was honoured with the Padma Bhushan. She was the founder president of the FICCI Ladies Organisation and served as chairperson of the Bharatiya Jnanpith Trust that awards the prestigious Jnanpith award.

She is survived by sons Samir and Vineet Jain. Vineet Jain is managing director at BCCL, while Samir is vice chairman of the group.
