Prime Minister Modi stressed aggressive testing along with random testing and expressed hope that the spread would be contained with collective efforts.

“If cases are not controlled, situation could get problematic. Saw similar trend before 2nd wave,” said PM Modi as he expressed concern over rising cases in some states.

“The states reporting high new cases need to take proactive measures to stop the possibility of a third wave of Covid-19. We need to move ahead with a focus on 'Test-Track-Treat- Vaccinate' approach,” he asserted.

“Initially experts were assuming that where the second wave originated, the situation would be under control first. But cases are increasing in Maharashtra and Kerala. This is indeed a matter of serious concern for all of us, for the country,” the PM further said.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister interacted with the chief ministers of the north-eastern states on the Covid-19 situation.
