PM Modi hails Himachal Pradesh government for vaccinating 100% population with 1st dose of COVID jab
PM Modi held a virtual interaction with healthcare workers of Himachal Pradesh, as well as beneficiaries of the vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
FollowNew Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, lauded the Himachal Pradesh government for vaccinating 100% of its eligible population.
PM Modi held a virtual interaction with healthcare workers of Himachal Pradesh, as well as beneficiaries of the vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Himachal Pradesh became the first state in the country to inoculate every single beneficiary with the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
“To see Himachal work as a team and achieve their target of administering 1st dose of Covid vaccines to 100% of the eligible citizens is very heartening. Himachal Pradesh came out as a champion in the fight against this once in a century pandemic,” PM Modi said.
Addressing the session Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur said, "Himachal Pradesh has made significant progress in administering the first dose of vaccines to 100% population. We aim to administer a 2nd dose to all by November 30."

Acknowledging the state's achievement, PM Modi asserted that there should be no scope for leniency of any kind until the vaccination drive is completed.
"Himachal has not only increased the morale of the country but has also shown how important it is to achieve Aatmanirbharta in Covid vaccination. Every day India is breaking records with the world's largest vaccine drive. We have to ensure that those who have taken the 1st dose of Covid Vaccines, must take the 2nd dose when the time comes," he added.
Besides Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Dadra & Nagar Haveli have vaccinated 100% of their eligible population with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines.
The PM further noted that fast paced vaccination will also be beneficial for the tourism sector here.
Prime Minister Modi concluded his speech by urging everyone to remain cautious against Covid-19 and strictly comply with “do gaj ki doori.”
