PM Modi greets Joe Biden on America's 245th Independence Day, ‘India, US share values of freedom, liberty’
American Independence Day colloquially known as the 4th of July completed 245 years today. The day is a federal holiday in the US. America had declared its independence on July 4, 1776.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took to Twitter to greet and congratulate US President Joe Biden and the people of America on its 245th Independence Day. Modi underlined India and America's strategic partnership and its global significance.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, "Warm felicitations and greetings to @POTUS @JoeBiden and the people of the USA on their 245th Independence Day. As vibrant democracies, India and USA share values of freedom and liberty. Our strategic partnership has a truly global significance."
The USA will be celebrating its Independence Day on the 4th of July with much more zeal this time as the country recovers from the coronavirus pandemic that has nixed large gatherings for more than a year.
It is to mention that July 4 commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the 13 colonies of the US in 1776.
India-US bilateral relations have developed into a "global strategic partnership", based on shared democratic values and increasing convergence of interests on bilateral, regional and global issues.
Regular exchange of high-level political visits has provided sustained momentum to bilateral cooperation, while the wide-ranging and ever-expanding dialogue architecture has established a long-term framework for India-US engagement.
Moreover, in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the US announced USD 41 million in assistance to help India respond to the coronavirus pandemic and strengthen the country's preparedness for Covid-19 and future health emergencies.
