Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met with local vaccine makers. He commended the vaccine producers' efforts, which resulted in the country surpassing the milestone of 100 crore immunizations, and stated that they had played a vital role in India's success storey. He admired their dedication and the trust they instilled in him during the pandemic.

The leader urged the country to institutionalize the best practices learned over the previous year and a half, saying that this is an opportunity to adjust our procedures following global norms. In light of the success of the immunization effort, he stated that the entire world is looking up to India. He also stated that vaccine producers should continue to collaborate to be prepared for future difficulties.

Domestic vaccine makers praised the Prime Minister's vision and strong leadership in giving continual advice and support for vaccine development. They also highlighted the unprecedented collaboration between government and business, as well as the regulatory changes, simpler procedures, prompt approvals, and the government's forthright and helpful demeanour throughout this endeavour. They observed that if the government had followed previous standards, there would have been significant delays and we would not have been able to reach the immunisation level that we have now.

Cyrus Poonawalla and Adar Poonawalla from the Serum Institute of India; Dr Krishna Ella and Suchitra Ella from Bharat Biotech International Ltd; Pankaj Patel and Dr Shervil Patel from Zydus Cadila; Mahima Datla and Narender Mantela from Biological E. Ltd; Dr Sanjay Singh and Satish Ramanlal Mehta; the Union Health Minister, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers were also present during the discussion.
