The new portal has been designed with convenience in mind and offers features that are expected to make the e-filing experience smoother and simpler.

The new website is integrated with the immediate processing of Income Tax Returns to issue quick refunds to taxpayers. It also hosts a free ITR preparation software with interactive questions to help taxpayers file ITRs 1, 4 (online and offline) and ITR 2 (offline) to begin with. The income tax department said that the facility for preparation of ITRs 3, 5, 6 and 7 will be made available shortly.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax department is reaching out to those who complained of glitches on the website and is assuring them of a quick fix.
