The new Income Tax portal, which went live at 8:45 PM on Monday, has already run into trouble with many users reporting glitches with the website.

The new portal has been designed with convenience in mind and offers features that are expected to make the e-filing experience smoother and simpler.
The new website is integrated with the immediate processing of Income Tax Returns to issue quick refunds to taxpayers. It also hosts a free ITR preparation software with interactive questions to help taxpayers file ITRs 1, 4 (online and offline) and ITR 2 (offline) to begin with. The income tax department said that the facility for preparation of ITRs 3, 5, 6 and 7 will be made available shortly.
Meanwhile, the Income Tax department is reaching out to those who complained of glitches on the website and is assuring them of a quick fix.
