NEET MDS counselling will start from August 20, 2021 and conclude on October 10, 2021, the Union Ministry of Health, on Tuesday, stated during the hearing in Supreme Court.

The apex court bench of justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah on Monday had asked the Centre to inform it by August 11 when it will conduct counselling for the NEET-MDS admissions that exams were persisted December 16, 2020.

On July 12, the Court had taken strong note of delay in holding the counselling; saying the Centre et al. are "dilly-dallying" for a year now.

The court was hearing a petition filed by aspirants whose results were declared in December 2020. The plea was moved by advocate Charu Mathur.

On July 29, the Centre has approved announced a 27% quota for OBCs and 10% reservation for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category in the All-India Quota (AIQ) scheme for undergraduates and postgraduate medical and dental courses from the present school year , 2021-22.

The doctors, having Bachelor in dentistry (BDS) degree, had appeared within the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-MDS conducted on December 16 last year by the National Board of Examination (NBE) for admission to the Master in dentistry (MDS) course.

Two weeks ago, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences had released the schedule for all the medical entrance examinations to be held within the school year 2021-22. According to this, NEET MDS are going to be persisted December 19, 2021. This had created even more outcries among the 2020 NEET MDS applicants.
