Naxal threat in south India: Armed forces take over security at 10 check-posts in TN-Karnataka borders

Following an intelligence report about Naxal strikes in southern India especially in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Erode district superintendent of police V Sasi Mohan has put the district and its borders on high alert. Reports say that Naxals may strike TN via Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve forest area.

As threat of possible Naxal attack looms large over Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the border areas have been put under high-security alert.
As per reports, the Maoists are planning to strike at Tamil Nadu via Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve Forest area.

The Tamil Nadu police said following inputs from intelligence about a possible Maoist attack in Tamil Nadu, security has been heightened and also all the borders and check-points are put under alert.

As per reports, places like Bhavanisagar, Burgur, Thalavadi, Hassanure and Kadambur are put under high security with armed police patrolling round-the-clock.

This apart, ten check-posts at Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border have been put under high security and armed guards have been deployed for checking.

As per reports, V Sasi Mohan, superintendent of police said, "10 specially trained commando personnel have been selected among the Armed Reserve Police and they will be sent to the forests along with armed policemen to keep vigil."
