New Delhi: A major fire broke out at a cosmetics factory in Pratap Nagar area of Delhi in the early hours of Saturday, killing at least one person, officials said.

A call about the fire was received around 3.47 am, a Delhi Fire Service official said.

As many as 28 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, and fire-fighting operations are underway.

As per reports, there were 40 workers inside the premises when the fire broke out. However, many managed to escape unhurt and the injured have been rushed to a hospital. The fire has now been contained.

An LPG explosion is being said to be responsible for the blaze in the factory.

Cosmetics, nail polish, children's toys, and bags are made in the factory.

"Eyewitnesses say that an LPG cylinder exploded following which fire broke out. No casualties reported, a Fire Service personnel injured and admitted to a hospital. 18 fire tenders are working, we have successfully contained the fire. Cooling is underway", news agency ANI quoted Rajinder Atwal, Fire Officer as saying.
