Maharashtra: RT-PCR report no more mandatory if fully vaccinated

FollowMumbai: The state government has exempted all fully vaccinated domestic and international passengers from showing a negative Covid-19 test (RT-PCR) report at the airport.
The Maharashtra government on Thursday announced that people fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and are in possession of a final vaccination certificate showing at least 15 days since taking the second dose are now permitted to enter the state without an RT-PCR test.
"Passengers who have taken two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine can land at any airport in Maharashtra without showing a negative RT-PCR report. However, they should have certificates stating they have taken both the doses," Tope said.
Directives so far said any passenger arriving in the state by any mode of transport was required to carry a negative RT-PCR test conducted 48 hours prior to commencement of journey. Through the latest order, the state government extended the validity of an RT-PCR test for all other persons to 72 hours before commencement of journey.
However, despite the status of Covid-19 vaccination, the state government said that all passengers must follow Covid appropriate behaviour at all times.
Speaking about the prevailing Covid-19 situation in Maharashtra, Rajesh Tope said the curve has reached a plateau and it should go down. "We currently have 1.4 lakh active Covid-19 cases. There are 10 districts that are a major cause for concern."
Maharashtra's Covid-19 tally rose to 61,89,257 with an addition of 8,010 new infections today, while the death toll reached 1,26,560 after 170 patients succumbed to the respiratory illness.
