The price of domestic LPG cooking gas cylinders across all categories including subsidised gas were hiked by Rs 15 per cylinder -- the fourth straight increase in rates in less than two months.

While the price of a non-subsidized 14.2 kg cylinder in the capital is now Rs 899.50, a 5 kg cylinder will now cost you Rs 502.

Earlier on October 1, petroleum companies hiked the price of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs 43.50.

"Petroleum companies increase price of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 43. Price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi now Rs 1736.50. On Sept 1st, price of commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 75. New rates effective from today. No change in domestic LPG cylinder rates," reported ANI.

The last time the LPG cylinder was hiked by Rs 25 was on September 1. It was the second hike undertaken by oil marketing companies (OMCs) within one month and the third in less than months. On August 17, prices were increased by Rs 25 taking the cost of a 14.2 kg cylinder to Rs 859.5 per cylinder in Delhi.

The latest increase in subsidised LPG price now has taken the cumulative rate hike since January 1 to Rs 205 per cylinder.

The exchange rate of the rupee against the dollar and the global benchmark rate are the two main factors that determine the prices of LPG cylinders in the country.

Meanwhile, the hike comes after the fuel price raise yesterday. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked across metros after a day's pause. In the national capital, petrol price has been increased by 25 paise from Rs 102.39 per litre to Rs 102.64 a litre and diesel has become dearer by 30 paise from Rs 90.77 per litre to Rs 91.07 per litre.
