Lakhimpuri Kheri violence: UP govt announces ex-gratia of Rs 45 lakh, government job for kin of dead farmers
Announcing the decision, UP Police ADG (Law & Order) Prashant Kumar said, “The government will give Rs 45 lakh and a government job to the families of 4 farmers who died in Lakhimpur Kheri yesterday. The injured will be given Rs 10 lakh.”
FollowLucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a compensation amount of Rs 45 lakh to the family members of four farmers, who were killed in Lakhimpuri Kheri on Sunday after a Union minister’s son allegedly rammed over them.
The injured will be given a sum of Rs 10 lakh.
Announcing the decision, UP Police ADG (Law & Order) Prashant Kumar said, “The government will give Rs 45 lakh and a government job to the families of 4 farmers who died in Lakhimpur Kheri yesterday. The injured will be given Rs 10 lakh.”
He also said that FIR will be registered based on farmers' complaint. The police officer further added that a retired high court judge will probe the matter.

On opposition leaders visit to the incident site, Kumar said, “Leaders of political parties have not been allowed to visit the district because Section 144 of CrPC is in place. However, members of farmer unions are allowed to come here.”
In a violent clash that broke out between the protesting farmers and BJP workers on Sunday has led to the killing of eight persons, including four farmers.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ajay Mishra has demanded Rs 50 lakh for the kin of the BJP workers who were killed yesterday.
Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi was detained by the UP police on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri, has begun her fast and alleged that she was manhandled by the police.
