Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Priyanka Gandhi, 10 others booked for disturbing peace, violating Section 144
According to Hargaon Police station SHO Brijesh Tripathi, a case has been filed against 11 including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Devindra Hooda and Ajay Kumar Lallu under Section 107/16 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), ANI reported.
The Uttar Pradesh Police after detention, filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Deependra Hooda, and several others for 'disrupting peace' and breaching Section 144.
According to Hargaon Police station SHO Brijesh Tripathi, a case has been filed against 11 including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Devindra Hooda and Ajay Kumar Lallu under Section 107/16 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), ANI reported.
Besides Priyanka Gandhi, state Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu, national secretary Dheeraj Gurjar, Youth Congress national president BV Srinivas, party MLC Deepak Singh were also taken into preventive custody.
SHO Hargaon has sent the report to the magistrate.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had claimed that she had been detained for the last 28 hours without any order or FIR. She also tweeted a viral video of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident and asked why has the person behind the killing of four farmers have not been arrested.
Rahul Gandhi also extended support to sister Priyanka and said that the one who is kept in custody is not afraid. "Is a true Congressman, will not give up," Rahul added.
The Congress alleged that drones were being used to monitor the movement of Priyanka at PAC guest house. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted a video of drones monitoring. "Who will take responsibility, whose drone is this and why," he tweeted.
Meanwhile, there have been country-wide protests against Priyanka Gandhi’s detention and hundreds of Congress workers have been sitting outside the PAC guest house in Sitapur, waiting for their leader's release.
