Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has reviewed the development of border areas in Arunachal Pradesh and said that the past blunders are being corrected by the Narendra Modi government to protect every inch of Indian territory.

Rijiju and Border Roads Director General Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry visited border villages of Arunachal Pradesh in Upper Subansiri district, including Galemo, Bidak, Maza, Taksing and Limeking.

"Border people are the sentinels of our country. Past blunders are being cleared by Narendra Modi government to develop border areas and to secure every inch of our motherland. Had good interaction with the local people at Galemo, Bidak, Maja, Taksing and Limeking in Arunachal Pradesh," Rijiju said in a tweet.

Infusion of new technology, surfacing technique, induction of new equipment and the BRO's concerted efforts has resulted in an increase in the pace of works in the isolated region of Arunachal Pradesh.

Besides better road connectivity for locals, these roads would also facilitate faster movement of heavy military traffic in the border areas and aid in the faster deployment of soldiers when needed in areas of strategic importance.

Appreciating the BRO for their untiring efforts, the minister said: "Let us be united to make India strong. I salute BRO, Security Forces & people living in tough border areas. Narendra Modi government is committed to developing all border areas."

During his visit, Rijiju also operated specialized drilling machine at formation cutting site ahead of Bidak to understand the difficulties of BRO personnel.

The locals informed him of the drastic reduction in travel time from District Headquarters at Daporijo and that they were able to send their children for higher studies at Daporijo.

During the visit, Lt Gen Chaudhry awarded four commendation cards to BRO personnel of Project Arunank for their meritorious service.
