Karnataka: Lingayat seers throw weight behind CM Yediyurappa day before Arun Singh's visit

Sounding a warning to Central BJP leadership in case they try to meddle with CM BS Yediyurappa and attempt to destabilise his administration, Lingayat seers including seers from Malnad region to which CM BS Yediyurappa belongs, have throw weight behind CM Yediyurappa. The warning comes weeks after Yediyurappa's son BY Vijayendra met seers of different mutts and sought their blessing amidst reports to unseat his father.

Ahead of BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh's visit on Wednesday, over a dozen seers from different religious mutts have expressed solidarity with BS Yediyurappa.

Taking the initiative in alerting the Central BJP leadership that community mutt leaders who command immense respect among all the sections -- Bekkina Kal Mutt seer Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Swamy and also part of Malenadu Mathadishara Parishat was quoted as saying, "No one should intervene and trouble the smooth functioning of the government. If anyone tries to destabilise the government, they will have to pay for it. Yediyurappa has faced a lot of problems after becoming the Chief Minister. He faced the worst floods and COVID pandemic. We should appreciate his efforts in tackling the crisis effectively."

As per reports, the seer feels that leadership change in state will be more dangerous than the pandemic situation and stressed the need for continuation of Yediyurappa as CM to tackle the present pandemic situation. "We need a Chief Minister for the developmental works in Shivamogga too. The seers of Shivamogga are always with Yediyurappa," a report stated, attributing Murugharajendra seer.

Echoing similar sentiments as of Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Swamy, Sri Rudramuni Swami of Shadakshara Mutt from Tumakuru in Karnataka has also backed the decision. He was quoted as saying," He (Yediyurappa) is the undisputed leader who has united different sections of the community. The BJP high command must let him complete his remaining term,

The warning from seers comes after some leaders including tourism Minister CP Yogeshwara allegedly attempting to unseat BSY was reported. Although Yogeshwara denied it, MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal from Vijapura has been talking about the change in state leadership and is more vocal in launching a scathing attack against CM and his family.

As the differences in Karnataka BJP reached Delhi, Arun Singh is set to visit Karnataka and will meet all the leaders, review the situation and report back to central high command.
