Carrying out a major reshuffle, the Karnataka government has transferred two senior IPS officers D Roopa and Hemant Nimbalkar among others.

D Roopa, who stated Home Secretary, has been transferred and posted as Managing Director of Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited in Bengaluru.

IPS Nimbalkar, who was Additional Commissioner (Administration) Bengaluru City has been transferred and posted as Managing Director of Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd, Bengaluru.

The reshuffle comes in the wake of an open rift between the two officers which saw them trade allegations of corruption in the tendering process of the multi-crore Bengaluru Safe City Project.

D Roopa alleged that tendering committee chief Nimbalkar was favouring a particular committee in violation of norms. Nimbalkar, on the other hand, alleged that Roopa was interfering with the process without any authority.

Reacting to her new posting, D Roopa said she had been transferred more than "double the times than the number of years of her career".

Taking to Twitter, she said: "Yes. I've always held that. Transfers r part of govt job. I've been transferred more than double the times than the number of years of my career. Whistleblowing & firm action is rift with risks & I know that. I continue to do my job uncompromisingly, this post or that post, doesn't matter."
