Karnataka govt announces Dasara guidelines: Customary Durbar only for palace staff

With just two days left for the Dasara festival, the state government has issued Covid guidelines that will come into effect from October 7. As per the guidelines, this year too the festival will be held in a simple manner and the public is barred from attending customary durbar events.

From compulsory hand sanitization, wearing a mask, maintaining distance, to limitation of visitors' footfall to 500 for the entertainment program, are some of the guidelines, the state government has announced for the annual Dasara festival.

As the Covid fear still looms large, for the inauguration of the Dasara event at Chamundi hills only 100 people will be allowed to gather and the police.

For the Jambu Savaari event on October 15 and other cultural programs, only 500 people must gather and the Mysuru district police have been given standing instructions to implement orders.

For customary durbar events, no public is allowed and only palace priests and staff will be allowed to witness the event this time as well.

All the staff, police on Dasara duty must have been vaccinated.

For Dasara celebration is other districts, no cultural event is allowed and only 400 people are allowed to gather for puja and to view Dasara dolls at selected places.

To ensure the public gets to see the annual durbar events and the annual Dasara celebration in Mysuru, the state government announced that the event will be live-streamed.

The technical expert committee has advised the state government not to give any relaxation for grand events and cultural events and mass gathering of the public during Dasara and warning about consequences later if shown any negligence.

This time Dasara event will be inaugurated by former CM SM Krishna. The Mysuru district incharge minister ST Somashekhar announced this decision.

The Mysuru police after the infamous gangrape incident has intensified patrolling all over the city to ensure maintenance of law and order during the event.
