Karnataka government gives green signal for Ganesha celebration, check details

As the state will celebrate Ganesha festival on September 10 amidst pandemic, the Karnataka government issued a set of fresh guidelines for a simple celebration this time. The decision was taken following technical experts' committee suggestions. One Ganesha per ward in urban areas and one Ganesha idol per village in rural areas have been allowed.

The Karnataka government on Sunday gave the nod for Ganesha festival celebration. Amidst pressure from own party leaders, 5 days' permission with a set of guidelines has been issued.

As per the report from the experts' committee, the government has banned rallies and entertainment programs.

After the meeting of the technical expert committee at CM Bommai's official residence, the Karnataka government has hinted at permitting only a small size about 4 feet tall idols for the celebrations.

Many event organizers and associations approached the government for permission as their lives have been hit hard due to lockdown.

Earlier, the expert committee and doctors advised the government to continue the restrictions due to the threat of Covid 3rd wave and asked for imposing restrictions on gatherings on festivals.

Here are the highlights of the government's decision on Ganesha festival:

Ganesha festival permission for only 5 days.

Night Curfew all over the state till the festival is over.

Only selected streets and chosen locations are allowed to keep Ganesha idol with permission.

No orchestra and entertainment program.

The district administrations and municipalities will select places for Ganesha idol immersion.

In villages, lakes and tanks will be selected for immersion.

In BBMP, only one place per ward is allowed to keep the idol during the festival.

Ban on gathering of public for poojas. Not more than 20 members were allowed to attend pooja.

Immersion only during day time.

Only 50 by 50 area measurement pandals are allowed.

No DJ music to be played. No rallies during immersion.

Vaccination must for organisers and must also hold a drive at every pandal.

No colleges and schools are allowed to keep Ganesha idol.

Districts with above 2% positivity rate will not be given permission.

For homes, only eco-friendly Ganesha idols are allowed like last time.
