Karnataka bandh impact: HAL shuts operations today, to work on Sunday

Following a call given by Pro-Kannada activists for Karnataka Bandh against preferential treatment to Maharathstra and State government signaling establishing Maratha Development Board, HAL has shut down today.

Bengaluru: As employees union of Public Sector Hindustan Aeronautics Limited appealed to management to close operations today in the view of inconvenience caused to employees coming to work during bandh day, the management has made changes and has declared December 5 as a holiday.

However, the employees have been directed to report to duty on Sunday.

As per the release, the General Secretary of Hindustan Aeronautics Employees Association, the appeal was made citing disruption of normal life due to transport issues.

"Many organizations including Pro-Kannada organizations have given a call to observe Bandh on Saturday, December 5th, 2020. There may be disruption in normal life including public transport, which may cause inconvenience to employees in attending their duties. In view of the above, it is requested that 5th Dec.2020 may be declared as Holiday on substitute basis and Sunday the 6th,Dec.2020 may be declared as working day in lieu thereof." states the release.

As there are over 12,000 employees in the Bengaluru unit, the Management citing administrative reasons has declared Bandh day as a holiday and asked its employees to report on Sunday (December 6).
